you can know the will of God.
God has planned out our lives even before we were born. So many people find it hard to believe, but the scriptures confirm this boldly (Psalm 139:1-5, 13-18).
God told the prophet Jeremiah that He had called him a prophet to the nations right from his mother’s womb, isn’t that amazing (Jeremiah 1:4-5).
Everyone may not be called to be prophets, but everyone has been given an endowment by God to function in life. God had called some to be deliverers like Joseph, Moses etc and still others to be doctors, architects, musicians etc.
Our goal is to find what we have been assigned to do by God and fulfil it. This is where a lot of us would like to bury our heads in the sand and play dead. Some people go through life and never find what they were created to do. We may actually be into something God has not planned for us and then life becomes a continuous struggle riddled with pain and misery.
An example of someone who was called into something but was involved in something else was Saul, who later became known as Paul the greatest of the apostles. This man wrote two thirds the New Testament and was mightily used by God (Acts 19:11-12).
Before his dramatic conversion Saul was wrecking havoc in the churches, persecuting and killing Christians. He thought he was doing the will of God (1 Timothy 1:12-13). Unknown to Saul God had planned his life as an apostle and separated him for this work right from his mother’s womb, but Saul didn’t know it. He was busy doing something else he had not been called to do and all this while, he thought he was doing God’s bidding (Galatians 1:11-16).
These verses in Galatians are so powerful that I will write them out for emphasis.
11But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.
12For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:
14And profited in the Jews' religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.
15But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother's womb, and called me by his grace,
16To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood (Galatians 1:11-16, KJV).
No doubt the churches were praying for Saul and God arrested him. My prayer is that God will arrest every one of us travelling the wrong path into the right path, doing His will for our lives. I strongly believe we are shaped and released into our destinies through prayers. Not only is God’s will for our lives revealed to us through prayers, but we are propelled into it as a result of it. We actually see this in the life and ministry of our LORD Jesus Christ. When he was about to start his ministry, he went into fasting and prayers for forty days and the scriptures confirm that he returned in the power of the Spirit (Luke 4:1-14). Nobody understood the power of prayer like our LORD Jesus. He said men ought always to pray and not faint (give up) Luke 18:1.
You can actually know God’s will for your life. Ask Him and He will reveal it to you by His Holy Spirit (Jeremiah 33:3, 1 Corinthians 2:9-13). The Holy Spirit searches the depths of every heart and the depths of God and brings us into harmony with God’s perfect will for our lives, because the Holy Spirit intercedes for us and helps us pray according to God’s perfect will (Romans 8:26-27).
This is where the Holy Spirit begins to make all things work for our good (benefit) because we are in perfect sync with God as a result of His intercession for us (Romans 8:28). Yes beloved you can know God’s will and walk in it. I never said it was easy finding it but God will help you locate it. The devil will do everything in his power to make you not find it, or recognise it when you finally come face to face with it.
When you find God’s will for your life, write it down and keep it always before your eyes. Continually speak about it and walk towards it. Begin to confess it, pray about it and God will bring it to pass (2 Corinthians 4:13, Habakkuk 2:2-3).
Never forget this; there is a time frame when God’s will is revealed to you and when it comes to pass in your life. It is called process. It is in this time frame that most people fail and give up.
God anointed and ordained David to be king over Israel but it took him 17 years before it came to pass. King Saul was chasing after him to kill him and he was running and hiding in caves and mountains, but he never lost sight of the vision. He wrote most of his Psalms during this period of great trials.
Never give up on what has been revealed to you by God. Paul told Timothy to call to remembrance the prophecy that was given him and fight the enemy with it.
This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightiest war a good warfare (1 Timothy 1:18, KJV).
Hold on to the prophetic words that have been spoken over your life, confess them, and fight the enemy with it. God is not a man that He should lie.
